On July 6, 2026, millions of people gathered in Tehran for the funeral procession of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, creating one of the largest funeral gatherings in modern history.

 Estimates placed the Tehran crowd as high as 12 million people, while total attendance across the multiday funeral ceremonies was projected to reach 20 to 30 million.
