HOUSE APPROVES $3.3 BILLION IN ISRAEL MILITARY AID

AS PART OF 2026 FOREIGN FUNDING BILL

On January 14, 2026, the U.S. House of Representatives approved legislation providing approximately $3.3 billion in additional military aid to Israel as part of the fiscal year 2026 State Department and foreign operations funding package. The measure passed by a recorded roll-call vote of 341 to 79, showing broad bipartisan support for continued military assistance.

The funding is provided through the Foreign Military Financing program, which allows allied governments to purchase U.S.-manufactured weapons and defense systems. For Israel, the allocation aligns with a 2016 memorandum of understanding that commits the United States to providing roughly $3.8 billion annually in military assistance through 2028, advancing that commitment for the current fiscal year.

Israel remains the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. military aid since World War II, reflecting decades of defense cooperation between the two countries. The House vote continues a long-standing pattern of congressional approval for military assistance through the annual appropriations process.

The aid provision was included within a broader appropriations bill rather than as a standalone measure. As a result, the vote also covered funding for the U.S. State Department and other foreign operations programs. The legislation now moves to the Senate for consideration before being sent to the President for final approval.
