Many world leaders voted in favour of a United Nations General Assembly motion to demand an immediate end to the invasion of Ukraine. At an emergency session in New York on March 2nd, 2022, 141 of the 193 member states backed the motion condemning Russia’s decision to go to war with Ukraine.
However, not all countries supported this vote. Below are a tally of the votes of the countries that voted against the UN Motion to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Which Countries Voted Against?
Five countries, including Russia, voted against the UN’s motion.
North Korea, Belarus, Eritrea and Syria chose to back Russia in the vote.
Belarus is a closy ally of Russia and has been as a staging ground for the
current invasion of Ukraine.
It’s President, Alexander Lukashenko, has been criticised for helping Vladimir
Putin and his forces are understood to be gearing up for deployment to assist
Russia.
