TO TRY TO PREVENT EVICTIONS
On September 13, 2021, Congresswoman Cori Bush introducing legislation to improve and expand access to emergency rental assistance amid the rent and housing crisis in the U.S. In doing so, individuals are allowed to apply for funds at public schools, libraries, transit systems, the United States Postal Service, housing authorities and other public services. This bill would direct funding to the state and local agencies responsible for distributing funds through the Department of Treasury.
Since Biden and Congress have refused to renew
the evicition moratorium, America is facing a social disaster of epic
dimensions.
Out of a total of $46.5 billion in funds to prevent evictions, only
$5.1 billion has been distrusted to those fearing eviction over two years.
