More than 50 groups have signed a letter asking the 2020 democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden, to support measures aimed at prioritizing democracy over militarism.
The letter was organized by the group Demand Progress and was signed by several super PACs, think tanks, and groups including MoveOn, Greenpeace, Center for Economic and Policy Research, Peace Action, the Quincy Institute, Win Without War, etc.
These groups are now asking Biden to support 10 key measures to support a new progressive vision for U.S. foreign policy, including the repeal of the authorization for use of military force that gave presidents new war powers after 9/11.
The groups are also asking Biden to reduce the Pentagon budget by $200 billion annually, and to commit to opposing an approach that prioritizes “regime change interventions and broad-based sanctions.”
Read more about what these groups are asking for in the letter linked below.
