On May 18, 2025, the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) and
other organizations will hold a significant rally at 3 PM at the Washington
Monument in Washington, D.C., as part of a broader series of coordinated
demonstrations across North America commemorating the 77th anniversary of the
Nakba. The Nakba, meaning "catastrophe" in Arabic, refers to the mass
displacement of Palestinians during the establishment of the state of Israel
in 1948.
The movement's demands include:
An immediate end to the violence and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
A comprehensive two-way arms embargo on Israel.
The release of all Palestinian political prisoners.
The right of return for Palestinian refugees.
An end to U.S. military aid to Israel.
The May 18 rally in Washington, D.C., is expected to be a focal point among
numerous events across North America, including cities like Austin and
Houston, where similar demonstrations will occur.
