LOWKEY’S CALL FOR GLOBAL JUSTICE:

FROM LONDON TO GAZA

Lowkey

Kareem Dennis, professionally known as Lowkey, is a British-Iraqi rapper and activist born on May 23, 1986, in London, England. Lowkey began his musical journey at 12, releasing a series of mixtapes that garnered early attention. His debut album, Dear Listener, was released in 2008, followed by Soundtrack to the Struggle in 2011. After a brief hiatus to focus on his studies, he returned with Soundtrack to the Struggle 2 in 2019 and Soundtrack to the Struggle 3 in 2024. Lowkey has seamlessly blended his musical talents with political activism throughout his career, particularly advocating for Palestinian rights.

"Palestine Will Never Die"

Released in November 2023, "Palestine Will Never Die" is a poignant collaboration between Lowkey and vocalist Mai Khalil. The track sheds light on the hardships faced by Palestinians, especially in Gaza, emphasizing their resilience and unyielding spirit. Mai Khalil's haunting chorus displays the enduring hope for freedom, while Lowkey's verses critique international inaction and media biases. The song is a powerful testament to the Palestinian Struggle and resonated with audiences worldwide.

"Genocide Joe"

In July 2024, Lowkey released "Genocide Joe," once again featuring Mai Khalil. This track offers a scathing critique of U.S. President Joe Biden's foreign policies, particularly regarding the Middle East. Lowkey addresses themes of militarism, imperialism, and the consequences of political decisions on vulnerable populations. The accompanying music video further amplifies the song's message, portraying powerful imagery that challenges listeners to reflect on global injustices.

"Intifada"

"Intifada," released in October 2024 as part of Soundtrack to the Struggle 3, is Lowkey's latest addition to his repertoire of politically charged music. The term "Intifada," meaning uprising in Arabic, encapsulates the song's essence—calling for resistance against oppression. Lowkey uses this track to highlight the struggles of oppressed communities and the importance of standing in solidarity with them. The song's music video visually represents themes of resistance and unity.

Lowkey continues to advocate for social justice, intertwining his musical prowess with unwavering activism to shed light on global issues and amplify marginalized voices.
